Landscape Lighting can add incredible value to your home and to your lifestyle
Designing a landscape to look its best at night is quite different than planning for the daylight. This skill is learned through experience and hours of work in the dark. The return on the investment, however, is tremendous.
You can significantly increase the beauty and enjoyment of your property for a fraction of the cost of the original professional landscaping.
So, let's take a look at the design process...
The Lighting Design Process
Consultation
I will work through a process of determining your goals and expectations, and answer any questions. This is done either at or before our initial meeting.
Demonstration
The best way to understand the potential of outdoor lighting for yourself is to see its many effects demonstrated at your home, within your specific landscape. This demonstration can be done just after sunset; at the initial meeting, or with the presentation of the proposal.
Design
The design will take into account all of your goals and preferences discussed throughout the Consultation and Demonstration. An initial list of Design Considerations to be discussed is included to the right.
Proposal
The proposed layout of your lighting system will be explained in detail. Any remaining options can be discussed, as well as the possibility of installation in separate phases.
Lighting Design Considerations
-
How can we improve your home's safety and security while also illuminating the beauty of your home and landscape?
-
How can we enhance your ability to entertain guests in the evenings?
-
How can we use light to prolong your ability to relax outdoors in the evenings?
-
What focal points and features do you want to highlight in your landscape?
-
What architectural features of your home do you want to highlight?
-
What areas of your property do you want to avoid drawing attention to at night?
-
What can we do to greet your guests with warmth and comfort in the evenings?
-
How can your evening landscape enhance your lifestyle, while reflecting your personal taste?
Life on the Mississippi by Mark Twain
" 'My boy, you have got to know the shape of the river perfectly. It is all there is left to steer by on a very dark night. Everything else is blotted out and gone. But mind you, it hasn't the same shape in the night that it has in the daytime.' "
